Got Questions?

We have answers!

A certification course means that by the end of the class, should you master all the technique and knowledge properly, your instructor will issue you a certification card also known as a C-CARD.

Ultimately, this card vouches that your instructor recognizes you as a safe freediver and that you would know how to help a fellow diver in distress should that ever happen. That card will allow you to continue your freediving education, join training trips or join any reputable dive operation.

Freediving Instructors International (F.I.I) is the only pure freediving education system headquartered in the USA. Launched by freediving pioneer & 13-times world record holder Martin Stepanek, F.I.I has the reputation of holding the highest standards of safety and quality in the industry.

Leveraging years of experience in competitive freediving along with constantly staying at the forefront of new scientific findings, F.I.I has identified the key skills and knowledge needed to make recreational freediving and spearfishing safer and more effective. When taking a freediving course from an active and insured F.I.I instructor, you know you are receiving the finest possible education & training.

You do not need to be an expert swimmer to attend a freediving course. Basic swimming skills along with a good water comfort is all you need to start enjoying the sport.

Level 2 candidates are expected to have a good grasp on key freediving fundamentals, as such to be able to attend the Level 2 Freediver course, students are required to have completed successfully the F.I.I Level 1 or F.I.I Junior Freediver course - or have an equivalency from another recognized agency such as P.F.I, PADI or SSI.

If coming from another agency, you will need to send us a copy of your Certification Card. Additionally, it is at the discretion of the instructor to require a demonstration of certain pre-requisite skills.

Upon successful completion of any of our F.I.I (Freediving Instructor International) courses, you will receive an internationally recognized & accepted certification card to the mailing address on file.

The card will allow you to enroll in upper education courses along with allowing you to join freediving and spearfishing camps and charters worldwide.

Your safety is our primary concern, therefore, should the weather prevent successful completion of any practical portion of the course (confined water, open water), your instructor will attempt to re-schedule those session under more pleasant weather conditions.

You will not need to retake any material that you have already been exposed to (such as the classroom) as long as the remainder of the course is attended and completed within one year (though we welcome any students to sit in our courses as many times as they want.)
